Boating - Amphora
Amphora - Making the top Deck
After lofting all his lines for the outside of the deck and the inside edges, Mike takes the saw and starts cutting her out. (It is a great feeling to see a kid do something other than playing video games and watching TV. I hope some of his brothers catch the bug too!)
Here is Mike holding the newly cut top deck of his Stevenson's Amphora. I think he is pretty proud of himself. (I am proud of him too.) We decided to call it a day because we had to get ready for Vacation Bible School. The total time we spent on the top deck was 2 hours and 45 Minutes. (Your mileage may vary.)
Mike builds a Stevenson's Amphora
Saturday, 21 June 2008
My youngest son, Michael approached me about making a boat. Mike knows that Melissa and I plan to build a boat to retire on and I guess from all the books and plans we have bought and looked at, he has caught the boat building bug.
Mike has worked hard for the materials and I plan to let him build and do all he is capable of. The web page will charter his success.
Here is Mike with a copy of the book The Amphora, A boat you can build for underwater research by Peter and Mike Stevenson. This book is out of print but you can still find used copies on the Internet at Amazon.com.
