My Heap - Site History

5 FEB 2006

  • We have added a Tumble style mixer for dry ingredients. Many Thanks to Gary Overman for sharing this good idea!

3 FEB 2006

  • Once again I am horrible about keeping this page up to date!
  • A number of issues have been worked through in building the Gas Fired Crucible Furnace. Mostly dealing with the fan. I am happy to announce that the project is nearing completion! YIPEE!
  • I have added a Ron Reil type propane burner to the site today with special thanks going to Gary Overman for providing it to us! Thanks Gary!
  • I removed the guestbook feature. It was hacked and redirected to a porn site. <SIGH> You would think people would put their talents to constructive use other than screwing with other people. Oh well life goes on. I suppose I could have seen if there was a fix for the vulnerability, but hey, that would cut into my project time!

6 APR 2005

  • I have added numerous updates to the Gingery Gas Fired Furnace project. We have nearly completed the frame that holds the furnace. Check it out!

23 MAR 2005

  • I updated an entry on the resource page for Gingery's "Building a gas fired Crucible Furnace". I done this because Jason and I started this project and I wanted people to know what the book was about..
  • I have started a new project with my Igor (Jason) to build a gas fired crucible furnace. If you are interested in this type of furnace, check in occasionally to check our progress.
  • I hope to get a little more active with my projects and so forth. No promises, but maybe I can find some time to get these projects going and maybe someday finished.

10 AUG 2004

  • I have added a section on steam casting by Alan Shinn.
  • I have added more to the wax injector. The unit is now finished but I will post the results of its use.

21 MAY 2004

  • I have added a section to the notebook detailing my attempt to make a surface plate from ordinary plate glass as directed by David Gingery.
  • I have added a section to the notebook detailing my atempts at injecting wax by hand with a syringe.

27 APR 2004

  • I have added detailed descriptions for four books. These are The Charcoal Foundry, The Metal Lathe, The Metal Shaper and The Milling Machine. I will add more as time permits.
  • I have added a message forum to the page. Hopefully people will use it. :-)

22 APR 2004

  • It seems I am not too good at posting the updates to the page! :-)
  • I have finished adding the contents that I have for the online book. As I finish items of interest, like the wax injector and broken arm caster, I will most likely move these items to the online book. If you would like to participate in its progress, send me an email with a subject of something like Online Molding Book (Just so that it sticks out) and I will gladly take your offer of help.
  • I have added more content to the wax injector tank project.

29 MAR 2004

  • I have added the starting of my wax injector project.
  • I have added an area for the My Heap Notebook. This area is where I will share my experiments, both successful and, well, not so successful.

19 MAR 2004

  • I have added basic pages to represent some of the projects I am doing and want to do.
  • I have added the outline for the online molding and casting book.

18 MAR 2004

  • The site is set up with the basic navigation in place.
  • Put the plans for the wax injector by Alan Lewis online.
  • Put the plans for the Vacuum Caster and Debubbler online
